BIRNS Emergency Light Fixture-LED Seismic Testing

His video shows BIRNS Emergency Light Fixture-LEDs (ELF-LEDs) during IEEE-344 seismic qualification testing at the National Technical Systems facility. This demanding test sequence uses a tri-axial acceleration table delivering the equivalent of a seismic event at 10Gs of force in the x, y and z axes.

BIRNS ELF-LEDs are advanced, seismically qualified nuclear grade lighting systems that provide 24-40 hours of standby illumination in the event of loss of AC power, which is 3 to 5 times longer than required by the NRC. These rugged, CE marked, RoHS compliant systems have a lamp life of 50,000 hours, and an 11 W power draw.

A Comparative Analysis of Multiloop Voltage Regulation Strategies for Single and Three-Phase UPS Systems Poh Chiang Loh, Michael John Newman,

Abstract—Most of the many reported control algorithms for uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) use either filter inductor or filter capacitor currents as feedback variables to regulate the output voltage. This paper explores the fundamental performance issues associated with the use of these quantities as feedback variables, with a view to determining their contribution to the transient system response and output harmonic compensation in any particular situation. A proportional plus resonant (P+resonant) compensator is then added into the outer voltage regulation loop to achieve zero steady error, to develop a high performance UPS control algorithm, which is applicable to both single-phase and three-phase systems. Theory, simulation, and experimental results are presented in the paper.

Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering Graduate School Dankook University ABSTRACT
Recently, the importance for power management IC(PMIC) is emphasized as battery-powered portable electronics such as smartphone are commonly used.In addition, research and development on high efficiency isessential to maximize the use of portable devices that are preferred various functions than in the past.PMIC for high efficiency usually change drastically from Linear regulators to Switching regulators. But the switching regulators have disadvantage of low efficiency compared with linear regulatorat light load conditions. Therefore, this paper is presented the using of linear regulator to increase efficiency at light load conditions and the using of switching regulator at heavy load conditions.
