Nanogenerators That Can Produce Electricity with a Pinch
Six years ago, scientists began their research in putting together a nanogenerator that could generate electricity with a cue from normal body movement. What sounded a weird, almost impossible vision six years ago saw a streak of progress over the years. Finally, at the 241st National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society, scientists revealed the development that has been taking place in this sphere ever since its conception.
Leading the research, scientist, Zhong Lin Wang, Ph.D. shared his vision and the potentiality of this technology. According to him, the success of this technology will make most electronics portable. Making it easier to carry, and completely eliminate the need for external power generators. The ‘pinch to generate power’ is just one of the many modes of power generation, as per the scientists at the meeting. Yet another power generation mode is placing the generator in the sole of a shoe. This way electricity can be generated by the walking movement of a person.
The fundamentals of nanogenerators are the use of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires in them. The key characteristic of these nanowires is their ability to generate electricity when they’re strained or flexed. This plainly means that in the future simple bodily movements like heartbeats, flow of blood, or walking could actually generate power!
Scientists are now hopeful that nanogenerators, in the future, will power cellphones, iPods and other larger electronics.

From 2003, I am a teaching assistant at the Department of System Engineering and Automation and my thesis research is about Gaits of Humanoids robots. Participate in Rh-2 and ROBOT@CWE E-U Projects. Coordinator of Rh-1 humanoid robot Project since 2002. Project assesor in technical studies of Telecommunications projects (Cóndor Corporation, Peru), 2000. Heavy machinery maintenance, preventive and corrective maintenance supervision (Trucks, Frontal loaders, Tractors, Shippers, Pumps, Auxiliary equipment), when I worked in Maintenance Area of San Martín Mining Company, Peru, 1999. Stage of research on Automatization and Industrial Control Process (2 months), by a scholarship on the Intercampus Program, in the University of Valladolid, Spain, 1998. Development of Electrical inspection, conductors and thermomagnetic switches selection, overload and short circuit protection, substations, reading electrical map, knowledge about pneumatic and hydraulics, when I was laboratory instructor (Electrical engineering and Automatic Control Systems) in Piura University, Peru, 1996-97. About informatics knowledge: Labview, Matlab, Autocad, Surfcam, Catia. Leadership, entrepreneur, analytical, work under pressure and in team.

"La Energía Solar Fotovoltaica en España" (2/2) por Javier Anta, Presidente de la Asociación de la Industria Fotovoltaica-ASIF. Participó en la primera mesa redonda del día 3 de noviembre, del I Congreso Profesional de la Energía organizado por el Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Industriales de Madrid, que se celebró en el Hotel Miguel Ángel de Madrid, junto con Alberto Ceña, Director de la Asociación Empresarial Eólica, y José María Martínez-Val, Vicedecano del COIIM y Catedrático de Termotecnia ETSII-UPM.
