 In this course, the design of practical power conditioning systems will be covered. To do this, the concept of the converter models and control strategies are taught. Some steady-state converter modeling techiniques will be introduced, and ac equivalent models are derived. Associated with the models, converter controller are designed. Magnetic circuit theory is reviewed. Practical magnetic component design is also introduced for isolated converters. Finally, students will learn the design methodologies of practical power conditioning systems including energy storage systems, EV motor drives, energy harvesting systems, and so on.

INNOVATION RANKING The Most Innovative Economies in the World-Katharina Buchholz Data Journalist-


Cancer research, meat alternatives and smart home technologies are among the major developments of our time. But which countries are world leaders in research and development, patent activity, high-tech density and everything that comes with fostering innovation? A recent Bloomberg ranking shows the most innovative countries by index value. South Korea ranks highest, followed by Germany. The U.S. is ranked in eighth place, climbing up three ranks compared to 2018. The ranking includes factors such as research and development expenditures, the number of domestic patent applications and the number of domestic public high-tech companies. South Korea was ranked first for the second year in a row and scored 87.38 out of 100 possible points, as our chart shows. Germany is only just behind with a value of 87.30. Switzerland is also among the top 5, taking fourth place among the most innovative economies this year, after Finland, which is the country most improved in the top 10, climbing up five ranks.

InovaCampinas Trade Show 2019 -30 e 31 de outubro.-SÃO PAULO-BRASIL



O InovaCampinas Trade Show 2019 encerrou nesta nesta quinta-feira (31) a sua 6ª edição e reuniu diferentes atores do ecossistema de inovação da região de Campinas, com a participação de empresas, investidores, startups e empreendedores nacionais e internacionais. Cerca de 3 mil visitantes passaram pelo local em dois dias de programação e mais de 300 reuniões de negócios foram realizadas, 50% a mais do que no ano passado. O evento ocorreu na Expo D.Pedro nos dias 30 e 31 de outubro.
 Com isso, o InovaCampinas Trade Show 2019 se consolidou um importante evento no epicentro da tecnologia e inovação do país. Dentre os participantes presentes, 73% foram empresas e startups; 12% entre pesquisadores, universidades e institutos de pesquisa; 8% de instituições e órgão públicos e 7% entre organizações da sociedade civil, como ONGs e associações.
 O evento contou também com uma ampla área de exposição com a presença de mais de 70 estandes de startups, instituições de pesquisa, prefeituras e universidades que apresentaram seus produtos e tecnologias para o público.
 Ao todos, mais de 20 atividades foram realizadas nos dois auditórios, entre palestras, mesas e paineis por onde passaram cerca de 60 palestrantes nacionais e internacionais. O evento trouxe para o debate, tanto nas conferências quanto na área de exposição, os temas mais relevantes do mercado, como empreendedorismo, agronegócio, IOT, saúde, indústria 4.0, energia, food tech e transformação digital.

ANALYSIS, DESIGN, AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A 5 KW ZERO VOLTAGE SWITCHING PHASE-SHIFTED FULL-BRIDGE DC/DC CONVERTER BASED POWER SUPPLY FOR ARC WELDING MACHINES Uslu, Mutlu M.S., Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet M. Hava November 2006, 196 pages

Modern arc welding machines utilize controllable high frequency DC/DC power supply with high dynamic and steady state current regulation performance. In the design robustness, small size and low weight, low complexity, and high efficiency are the defining criteria. The most suitable approach for a 5 kW arc welding machine power supply application is the high frequency Full-Bridge Phase-Shifted Zero Voltage Switching (FB-PS-ZVS) DC/DC converter with an isolation transformer. This converter not only gives the advantage of zero voltage switching for a wide load current range, it also provides reduced Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and reduced component stress compared to standard PWM converters. In this thesis a FB-PS-ZVS DC/DC converter with 5 kW power rating is designed for modern arc welding machine applications. IGBTs are utilized at 50 kHz switching frequency for high efficiency and control bandwidth. The output current of the DC/DC converter is controlled via a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) control platform. The performance of the designed DC/DC converter is evaluated via the computer simulations and the experimental study of the constructed prototype.
