DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DIGITAL DIMMING ELECTRONIC BALLAST

Abstract
 This thesis aims to present the design and practice of a digital electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps. It introduces the characteristics of lamp, DC/DC converter, power factor correction circuit IC 6561, and resonant circuit IC 6574, The electronic ballast is developed by using IC 6561and IC 6574, and other circuits to meet the need for high power factor, long lamp life, high luminous efficiency, and dimming control. Also the circuit operation principle, analysis of carefully designed circuit parameters, practical consideration of self-excitation, and dimming control are explained in detail .The test of real design is carried out at last, and the result shows the proposed digital electronic ballast can fulfill the design purposes.

 A B S T RA CT 
This paper present s the 3- phase hybrid series active filter in order to compensate for harmonics currents , voltage fluctuating and voltage unbalance in power systems . The electric power systems are based on an alternating current and voltage which are sinusoidal in nature. Computers and sensitive electronic control equipment in industrial and commercial plants demand a high quality electric power supply . With significant development of power electronics technology , the proliferation of nonlinear loads such as static power converters has deteriorated power quality in power systems . Notably , nonlinear loads resulted in harmonic distortion , become a serious problem in many industrial equipment . Therefore, utility power quality has become an important issue recently .

A Novel Design of an Adaptive PID Controller for Cardiac Pacemaker Achu Govind K. Aravind Sekhar Vinod B.- Dept. of Electronics and Communication, Mohandas College of Engineering, Kerala University, Trivandrum- Kerala, India



Abstract
 Biomedical engineering deals with the application of various concepts of engineering in the field of medicine and biology mainly for health care purposes thereby improving patients quality of life. Out of the various techniques, the primary focus is to develop a reliable and optimized technique for electro simulation of heart. The present work deals with an improvement in the design of control system for regulating the heart rate of a pacemaker in an efficient way. An Adaptive PID controller based on the Delta rule and Adaptive Correction Factor is proposed in this paper. The Adaptive PID controller is implemented using an Adaptive Loop incorporating MIT rule with the Delta rule. The PID parameters are modified by an Adaptive Correction Factor. Simulation results were performed on the developed cardiovascular system of humans and results show that the proposed adaptive PID controller produces superior control performance than conventional PID controller. Simulations were done in Matlab/Simulink.

Publicado em 1 de mar de 2016 The AIMS Public Lecture Series presents: "Gravitational Waves - Einstein's Final Legacy and a Revolution for Astronomy" By Prof. Bruce Bassett, AIMS South Africa, SAAO and UCT Abstract: Gravitational waves - ripples in the fabric of space and time itself caused by colliding black holes - were discovered last week by LIGO, opening up a new window on the Universe. In this talk we will explore what they are and why Einstein predicted them 100 years ago, how they are created and why it has been so hard to find them. We then discuss how gravitational waves will revolutionise astronomy by giving us a new sense, the only one that could potentially see right back to the Big Bang.

Takaaki Kajita (梶田 隆章 Kajita Takaaki?, born 9 March 1959) is a Japanese physicist, known for neutrino experiments at the Kamiokande and its successor, Super-Kamiokande. In 2015, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics jointly with Canadian physicist Arthur B. McDonald.

2015年諾貝爾物理獎得主日籍梶田隆章教授於12月22日蒞臨臺灣大學凝態中心物理­新館國際會議廳,針對〈微中子震盪Atmospheric neutrino studies and neutrino oscillation〉議題進行一場通俗演講。 臺大物理系指出,在進入千禧年之前的1998年,梶田隆章教授代表日本超級神岡微中子­探測實驗(Super-Kamiokande)報告指出,宇宙射線在大氣中產生的微中­子會進行兩種不同「味」,「渺子」與「濤子」間的轉換,顯示微中子具有質量,改變了以­往微中子無質量的核心認知,也成為未來研究宇宙的重要依據,因此榮獲2015年諾貝爾­物理獎桂冠。
