Transformer and Inductor modeling with Comsol Multiphysics

Electromagnetic Simulation in COMSOL

- Simulation in COMSOL covers current, fields, and waves. Brief examples include joule heating in a fuse, coupled physics and total inductance in inductors, and electromagnetic waves in a 90 degree h band waveguide.

Summary The energy efficiency trends in power electronic converter design are leading to increasing
demands for faster switching devices with minimalswitching losses. Consequences are electromagnetic
design challenges such as parasitic stray inductances and high frequency impedance characteristics of
passive components. The only way to systematically approach these challenges are dedicated methods for
efficient electromagnetic simulation.
