Mark Suppes, 'Fusioneer', Part1 Building a homemade nuclear reactor in NYC
Mark Suppes is an Amateur "fusioneer," who's building his own fusion reactor in a garage near his Brooklyn, N.Y., home.
For him, fusion research is more than just a hobby. It's his chance to change the world. Although he has a full-time job and works on it when he can, he believes his research can make a difference in people's lives.
He has no formal physics training and says he's self-educated, largely through Wikipedia. He became interested in the topic when he saw a Google Tech Talk called, "Should Google Go Nuclear," presented by renowned nuclear physicist Robert W. Bussard. Now he's been at it for about 10 years.
